COHEN MOONSAMY
Cohen’s ‘Foxy’ ride is truly an ‘illest’ beast
THIS column isn’t always just about featuring the fastest or most expensive vehicles in the province.
It’s about ordinary vehicles made extraordinary through the individual and kindred visions of their owners, and the scores of auto-obsessed South African petrol-heads.
Cohen Moonsamy is a 27-year-old drug co-ordinator for the Department of Health. He lives in Bayview, Chatsworth, and owns this week’s featured vehicle, a performanceupgraded Volkswagen Fox.
His car has a host of performance upgrades: the factory-fitted, carburettor-fed 1300 engine and fourspeed gearbox were replaced with a VW 1.8-litre fuel-injected power plant with a DGG gearbox. A Dicktator performance engine management system, a set of branches and a freeflow exhaust were also added.
The exterior received a fair dose of “jazzing” up and boasts a custom blue paint-job with silver dust added to create a modern metallic finish.
A set of 15-inch Rotiform mag wheels mated to Hifly 165/50/15 rubbers work with a Maxtrac coil-over suspension to give the car an elegant but sporty demeanour while adding function to the form.
I have yet to come across a VW that doesn’t boast a boot loaded with sound. This one is no different and flaunts the quality of a full Pioneer acoustic system, comprising a Pioneer USB/ MP3 media player, a pair of 12-inch Pioneer Windmills, 8-inch Pioneer limpids, Pioneer super tweeters, a pair of Audio Gods amplifiers and, last but not least, a Star Sound pre-amp.
Moonsamy is incidentally also a proud member of the popular and previously referenced VW Illest Owners Car Club.
The club consists of a local and virtual collective of Vw-centric petrolheads sharing their love and passion for all things VW as well as meeting the club’s philanthropic objectives. SERVICE PROVIDERS: Max Motorsport Township Hyper Son Shine Paints Vishen’s Auto
