Best place for a first date in the city: The Oyster Box Hotel. Amazing ambience and outstanding food.

What’s the first thing you do when you arrive in Durban from out of town? I love to go take a stroll on the beach, it’s my happy place and always the best reset for me.

Best meal you’ve had in Durban? Crab curry is my absolute favourite… there is just nothing like it anywhere in the world.

What current local song can’t you stop listening to? I had the pleasure of hosting a Bell & Ross event at Mesh with Mi Casa performing unplugged. J’something sang his new and unreleased song and I’ve literally been walking around singing “I’m so ready...” his voice just melts my heart!!

What’s the last South African movie you watched? I watched the screen adaptation of the award-winning novel Happiness is a Four-letter Word written by the South African author, Cynthia Jele. Starring Khanyi Mbau, Mmabatho Montsho and Renate Stuurman. It’s world class filming and acting, plus some scenes were shot in my house!

Earliest memory you have of Durban? I remember a family trip when I was still in primary school, we went to visit family and spent lots of time in the sand and surf.

So if you were mayor for the day, what would you do? I would love to host a talent show where the youth could showcase their abilities, meet some role models and discover how their own natural talents could help them build better lives for themselves. Your favourite hangout spot in Durban? I love the Gateway mall; it’s so much fun and a lovely place to just let your hair down for some retail therapy. The best kept secret in the city? There’s Roma Revolving
