WOODFORD Vehicle Rentals has secured a three-year contract with Softbev, which specialises in soft drinks, including Pepsi, Coo-ee and Jive.

The contract, confirmed recently, will see the rentals company provide Softbev with a total solution for distribution in Gauteng through a fleet of 36-ton Nissan UHD 490 Super Links.

The contract is worth about R45million and is an extension of the relationship already in place between the Woodford Group and Softbev.

The agreement follows a similar arrangement with Softbev that has seen the vehicle rentals company distribute for the soft drinks manufacturer and supplier in Kwazulu-natal and the Eastern Cape over the past few years.

“We’re pleased to have received the thumbs up from Softbev for Gauteng. Serving them in three provinces is a sign of the mutual trust between our companies,” said Owais Suleman, managing director of the Woodford Group.

“We feel we’re the perfect fit for a company that has similar values and ambitions and we will endeavour to serve Softbev with the same passion and commitment applied in the past,” he added.

The determining factor in securing the contract was the offering that the rental company provided: a fixed cost including benefits, such as drivers, fuel management, tracking, maintenance and unforeseen incidents or circumstances.

“Our priority is to keep our clients’ goods moving with as little hassle as possible. Our promise is that we’ll handle any issues or situations that may arise, and will get your goods to its destination in good time,” said Suleman.

The system relies on what Woodford believes is the perfect blend of in-house capabilities and strategic relationships that ensure added benefits such as roadside assistance, mechanical repairs, tyres and tyre repair.

The offering has been shaped by almost 25 years of experience in the industry, with Woodford Vehicle Rentals having adapted and tailored solutions for its clients to provide better value in a highly competitive market.

Woodford Vehicle Rentals currently has a fleet of 145 commercial vehicles, ranging from 1- to 36-ton vehicles.

Fresh on the heels of the landmark contract, Woodford has been awarded another three-year contract to meet the passenger and light commercial vehicle requirements of TFS Wholesalers in the Free State.

The wholesale player cited the common values and commitment to excellence as one of the reasons for the long-term contract that will see Woodford move from providing just five vehicles to TFS to 25 fully branded light commercial vehicles.

The agreement with TFS includes a full-maintenance lease that has become the hallmark of Woodford’s value offering.

The contract will therefore include driver management and traffic fine management, along with fleet management and a host of ancillary services.

“TFS represents more than just another contract. It represents an opportunity and a relationship that will provide value to ensure both parties thrive,” said Suleman. “We’ll keep their vehicles moving and in great shape so they can focus on their business.”
