We met over seven years ago at Kingsway Hospital when I called the Ampath lab for blood results and a surprising­ly nice-sounding guy answered the phone.

Inquisitiv­e, I asked his name and that started a friendship… until mutual friends Marilyn and Krishnee sent Darren a Christmas card in March with my name and cellphone number on it. He called that evening. THE PROPOSAL & MARRIAGE

He proposed last year, on my 30th birthday. He booked lunch at the African Peninsula on the Bluff and afterwards led me down a path to a cliff over the beach where he professed his undying love, got down on one knee and proposed.

About 300 guests attended our big day, which began with a garden wedding ceremony. WEDDING BLACK BOOK

BIGGEST CHALLENGE

Apart from the build-up to the wedding and setting up house, the other challenge was the opening dance. We had to have dance lessons and did the cha cha on the day. I didn’t fall on my face. VIEWS ON LOVE & MARRIAGE
