KZN property mogul and firm top SAIBPP awards
DURBAN business mogul Vivian Reddy is optimistic about the socio-economic future of South Africa, despite the current problems, which he says are “temporary”.
The executive chairman of the Edison Corporation Group and property developer, Reddy was speaking to the Sunday Tribune after receiving the Standard Bank KZN Top Business Award for Business Personality of the Year on Thursday. He received a standing ovation from the province’s business personalities at the function and the organisers highlighted his business and philanthropic leadership role.
On the same evening, his company, the Edison Property Group, was recognised by the South African Institute of Black Property Practitioners (SAIBPP) for the most empowered property development company in the country, at their convention and annual awards in Johannesburg.
“Winning such prestigious awards, considering the wealth of highly successful business people in the province, spurs me to work even harder in service to humanity,” Reddy said.
He said he was amazed at the recognition received by the Edison Property Group, as the company was only three years old. One of its flagship projects is the R3.8 billion Oceans Umhlanga development in Durban, set to employ 15 000 people during construction and create 2 500 permanent jobs. The project comprises a mall, hotel and apartments.
“The Edison team is the real hero of the success of the company,” Reddy added.
