KARMILEN MOOPANAR & JOELENE NAICKER

Magical date leads to beautiful wedding

-

KARMILEN Moopanar, 27, an IT specialist, and Joelene Naicker, 24, a personal assistant, both from Tongaat, married on September 3, at the Shree Veeraboga Emperumal Temple in Tongaat in front of 300 guests.

HOW WE MET

We met in 2001. Karmilen was an IT technician who provided support for the company where I worked. A few months later, we began to date.

Our first date was magical. We fell in love and, after six years, we were ready for the next big step, planning our wedding.

THE PROPOSAL AND WEDDING

The proposal was held at my house. It was a planned event, involving our families. At the end of the programme, Karmilen went down on one knee and proposed marriage.

The proposal programme was a great success and so, too, was our wedding day, which involved a beautiful, traditional Tamil ceremony.

BIGGEST CHALLENGE

We attended a few other wedding ceremonies the year before our betrothal and got some ideas.

The most stressful aspect of planning the wedding was drawing up the guest list and ensuring everything would be perfect for our fairy-tale wedding.

Apart from the invitations, we had no major challenges and everything fell into place as planned.

VIEWS ON LOVE AND MARRIAGE

Marriage is the most sacred way in which a couple can show their commitment to one another. It requires a lot of hard work, as well as compromise, understanding and love.
