ACDP launches polls manifesto

- Tshego Lepule

THE African Christian Democratic Party (ACDP) says it is confident it will grow its support in the Western Cape while the DA and the ANC continue to fight with each other.

The party launched its manifesto in Silversands, Blue Downs yesterday where party leader the Rev Kenneth Meshoe addressed about 2 000 supporters.

Meshoe said the key areas of the manifesto’s focus were unapologetically Christian principles, that would be implemented if the party was voted into power.

He highlighted the issue of job creation and having an environment that made it possible for young people to start their own businesses, as well as providing tax incentives for bigger companies that provide jobs and internship opportunities.

He pointed to the crisis at Eskom as a major contributor to poor economic growth and said President Cyril Ramaphosa should take responsibility for the problems at the power utility.

Meshoe pledged the party would deal with sub-standard education by introducing a world-class system such as the Cambridge curriculum at schools, use biblical teachings and reopen teaching colleges.

He promised to bring stability by tackling crime.

“We launched here to tell people we are a key role-player in the Western Cape.

“While the ANC and the DA are fighting, we believe we will take victory on May 8,” the ACDP’S Western Cape premier candidate, Ferlon Christians, said. |
