Morocco rejects allegations of spying
RABAT: Morocco is calling on human rights organisation Amnesty International to provide evidence to support its allegations that the government conducted cyber-spying attacks against Moroccan activists and journalists, said Morocco World News.
Amnesty revealed that NSO Group, the Israeli company marketing its Pegasus spyware technology in the fight against Covid-19, contributed to a campaign by the government to spy on Moroccan journalist Omar Radi.
According to Morocco World News, the National Brigade of Judicial Police summoned Radi on June 24 as part of an official investigation to determine his alleged involvement in a case of obtaining foreign financing related to “intelligence services”.
In a statement issued by the government, Morocco said it would defend its national security and to enlighten public opinion against the “fallacies”.
