TO MARK the birth of Lord Hanuman, Hanuman Jayanti is celebrated in the month of Chaitra in the Hindu calendar.

Hanumanji has always held a special place in my heart and I am sure this is true for all Hindus as well.

This year we are celebrating Hanuman Jayanti on April 23. Being a Tuesday, this has exceptionally double strength as Lord Hanuman was born on a Tuesday.

The great Hanumanji is known for his great strength, power and his immortal devotion towards Lord Rama. He is the ardent devotee of Lord Ram.

One can get numerous astrological and spiritual benefits by observing this wondrous day. We are well aware that Lord Hanumanji is very merciful and even more easily pleased by chanting Ram Naam.

On this auspicious day of Hanuman Jayanti, people apply red sindoor from the Lord’s feet on their foreheads. This is considered a ritual for good health and good luck.

The most common parsad offered to Lord Hanumanji is rhort, coconut, banana, churma, kheer etc.

NB: Avoid onion, garlic and alcohol. Be strictly vegetarian on this day.

Lord Hanuman is known for making possible from the impossible. All those people who worship God will get rid of all kinds of problems.

The easiest and most popular way to get happiness and peace is by chanting the Hanuman Chalisa every day. On this day, one must read it at least 11 times. It is best to do 108 Hanuman Chalisa. It takes about four to five hours.

Read the Sunderkand on this day.

About the Sunderkand:

It is the fifth chapter of one of the holiest books called the Ramayana. It sings the praises of Shree Ram and gives a beautiful description of Shree Ram’s ambassador, Hanuman, his strength, knowledge and wisdom.

Lots of people hesitate to read the Ramayana due to its lengthy duration. However, a quick alternative is the Sunderkand.

When Lord Rama completed his leela and was ready to return to Vaikunt, Hanumanji requested to go with him. Shree Ram then blessed Hanumanji asking him to stay behind to assist his devotees on earth during this troubled period of Kaliyuga.

Therefore, wherever the sweet melodious words of Ramayana/sunderkand are recited wholeheartedly, Lord Hanuman makes his presence prevail automatically.

The mantras are a sound that creates the positive divine vibration.

The Sunderkand is a flow of pious mantras. The moment one does Sunderkand recitation regularly, it crushes the negative thoughts. It gives one materialistic boon and spiritual upliftment.

If you have a particular aim, it is an undeniable fact that daily reading of Sunderkand easily accomplishes your objective.

By reading the Sunderkand with full faith and devotion one can reap the following benefits easily:

1. It improves your financial situation and ensures a stable source of income.

2. It helps open the way to a job.

3. Guarantees the removal of all kinds of black magic and negative energy.

4. Helps with legal matters and to overcome enemies.

5. Is “Ram Baan” (Lord Shree Ram’s spearhead) for incurable diseases, ensuring good health.

6. Astrologically negates the ill effects of Saturn, Rahu and Mars in a horoscope.

7. Makes you fearless and full of confidence.

8. Shows you how to resolve problems in your life.

9. Brings peace and happiness to the mind and soul.

10. Helps you to prosper.

11. Brings you closer to God and cleanses you of sins.

If you have a particular aim, then the daily reading of the Sunderkand will help you your objective.

Please note: Special note:

to easily accomplish

1. Sunderkand can be done on any day and at any time. However, for the greatest benefits one should recite on Hanuman Jayanti, Ram Navami, Navratri, and on Tuesdays, Saturdays and full moon days.

2. If you are surrounded by many problems and have a specific aim, then do it for the next 21, 51 or 101 days continuously.

Many who have read the Sunderkand previously reported miraculous positive changes in their lives.

It is a very valuable religious book and a greatly respected book.

Please recite it as much as you can. It removes all types of negative energies. All the astrologers, palmists and priests will agree without a doubt.

Most importantly, faith and devotion are vital elements of Sunderkand.

I would like to thank many temple presidents, committee members and resident priests as they made the reciting of the Sunderkand as part of their temple programme.

I also humbly request the heads of other temples to start Sunderkand as part of their regular temple programme. It will provide mass benefits to the community at large, as it is the golden key to resolve all problems.
