Compatibility tests good for happy marriages SOUL JOURNEY

- With MAHESH BANG

A GOOD question from a reader:

I’ve been going out with someone for the last four years. But recently we have just been fighting and arguing about small matters. We were supposed to get married at the end of the year. But we put the wedding on hold and we would like to do a compatibility test on whether we are soulmates or not. Can we get married as per astrology and do you have any tip for wedding cards?

Answer:

According to the Hindu way of life, marriage is a sacred union between a man and woman. Before marriage both the man and woman are considered incomplete. Only after marriage their lives are complete.

Both are assigned responsibilities to make the marriage succeed. Therefore, many families compare the horoscopes of the prospective bride and groom to have marital bliss. It is said that marriages are made in heaven and celebrated on Earth.

It is good to do compatibility tests when a relationship is young or when you are doubtful about your decision. But it’s ethical to get consent from both parties to do this test. So, as you provided both of your details the below describes how the test works.

In astrology, marital compatibility is based on eight parameters.

1.“Varna” carries one mark and stands for ego development and the work front.

2. “Vashya” (two marks) is for the intensity of mutual attraction and dominance.

3. “Tara” (three marks) for financial status and destiny.

4. “Yoni” (four marks) for bedroom chemistry and mentality.

5. “Maitri”(five marks) for goals in life, intelligence, spirituality and friendliness.

6. “Gana” (six marks) for temperament.

7. “Bhakut” (seven marks) for family welfare and love.

8. “Nadi” (eighth marks) for health. The eight parameters together carry 36 marks. When the two horoscopes are compared, a minimum of 18 marks are necessary for a match to be declared compatible. The more marks scored, the better the outlook.

1. Between 18 and 20 marks considered an average match.

2. Between 21 and 23 marks is a good match.

3. Between 24 and 28 is a very good match.

4. Above 28 is an excellent match

but it is very rare.

To do a compatibility test between a boy and girl, we need an exact time of birth, besides the date and place of birth, according to Vedic astrology.

In more than 90% of cases horoscope matching is of great help in finding a suitable partner if you are confused about whether your partner is the one for you or not. You both get 23 points. I hope above test can help you in making your decisions as per the vedic astrological perspective.

However, it is recommended for you and as a couple in general to consider all other realistic factors prior to marriage. As according to both of your horoscopes, this year both your ruling

planets are enemies with each other.

Secondly last month’s powerful eclipse worsens the situation. Be patient for the next three to four months then everything will be fine.

Now you need to work towards each other. Most important is to note that there are seven most auspicious dates in the year to get married. If someone marries on these days then they get two points more.

Advice on designing a wedding card from an astro perspective:

Those who follow Hinduism should do the following to make the wedding card more auspicious:

1. The card must have a picture of Lord Ganesha and a Ganesha mantra.

2. It must have a swastika and Aum sign.

3. It may also have a small picture of a banana plant (in a pair) and Kalash as a design or any other auspicious symbol or figure of Hinduism.

4. The card must be reddish, yellowish, orange, sindoor (orange-red), pink, cream or beige.

5. The first invitation must be addressed to Lord Ganesha and offered at the prayer place or the temple of Lord Ganesha.

6. The second invitation must be addressed to your favourite deity.

7. The first invitation must be written on a Wednesday between the new moon and full-moon or any other auspicious day, according to Hinduism.

8. While writing the name on the wedding card, you must face east. It is best to use red ink. If printed by computer, stick on card while facing east.

9. The number of cards printed for the wedding should be an odd number and ending in 1. For example (21, 51, 101, 111, 121, 151, 201 …).

10. If it is an e-card only, then visit the Lord Ganesha temple (any temple where Lord Ganesha is situated) and narrate your card. Afterwards you can send the e-card to your friends and family.
