Missing the Cher magic of old days

-

I FIND the Sunday Tribune’s new auction column a most worthy addition to the paper, but was caught unawares by the snippet announcing that Cher had auctioned her black bra, with the proceeds going to charity.

Now that’s an arresting topic for a Sunday morning, I thought, as my trembling hand sent Corn Flakes cascading down my shirt front. And I shed a silent tear for the Cher of yesteryear whose golden orbs set my adolescent heart racing and put a glazed smile on my acne-ridden face.

But age and gravity take their toll, and I am saddened that those lacy black cups will ne’er again overflow. JOHN GARDENER Howick
