Salute a hero and household name
EXCELLENT choice by Mervyn Naidoo (Sunday Tribune Herald, June 18) of Zuleikha Mayat for the Our Heroes column.
I recall her role on many fronts, particularly in the preservation of culture, providing bursaries for needy students and, most importantly, bringing joy to many with her philanthropic efforts.
Her best-selling Indian Delights cookbook continues to satisfy many a palate and households lacking skill or imagination in planning a meal.
While we bemoan the fact it took so long for her to be recognised, we celebrate her contribution and trust her achievements serve as a beacon of hope and that her wisdom will be used to better our society.
Well done, Zuleikha Mayat. You will always be a household name. God bless you.
