And into the shed

-

colada and chill in a hammock.

Looking for inspiration? Check out readersheds.co.uk, a site dedicated to the shed-renovation craze. They host an annual shedof-the-year competition, with categories including “unique”, “eco”’, “cabin/summerhouse”, “historical” and, of course, “pub/ entertainment”. Take a look at Jeff ’s Margaritaville, Alpine Bar, or Janice’s Champagne Bar for an idea of what you can do with a little space, a sprinkling of imagination and, of course, a whole heap of booze.

It’s the evolution of the man cave, and we mean evolution in every sense. Why should your hideaway have the designation “man” in it? Everyone deserves a special spot for a quiet tipple at the end of the day. If you’re having qualms about sharing it with your partner, think of it as a chance to have someone cute to talk to, someone to laugh at your jokes regardless of their level of sobriety, and someone to go home with when last rounds have been called.

If you still need convincing about the reality of the trend, then make sure you don’t miss the East Coast Radio House & Garden Show, from June 30 – July 9 at the Durban Exhibition Centre where The Shed is showing off their backyard bar shed, complete with gin and craft beer on tap.
