Teachers withdrawn

THREE hundred and twenty four teachers from 30 schools in Eldorado Park, Johannesburg, downed tools over racism allegations forcing schools to close.

Sadtu accused the Gauteng Department of Education of failing to address issues of black teachers.

Sadtu reacted to simmering racial tension at Klipspruit West Secondary where protests erupted after a black principal was appointed in July.

The largely coloured community demanded a coloured candidate. Further disruptions are expected.
