Health department takes action against nurse

THE nurse caught on camera allegedly abusing a patient who later died has been placed on precautionary suspension.

The St Mary’s nurse met hospital management on Thursday following a video allegedly showing her verbal abuse of a bedridden patient, Nozipho Ngcobo. The video was captured by a patient in the same ward.

Reacting to the video, which went viral, the department condemned the nurse’s behaviour and said she had violated the health care professional’s code of conduct.

In the video, the patient was seen struggling to move while the nurse goaded her.
