ATHENS: Greek Prime

Minister Alexis Tsipras faced a no-confidence vote yesterday over a landmark agreement he made in a decades-long name row with Macedonia.

Greece’s conservative opposition New Democracy believes the deal – which allows the neighbouring country to retain the name Macedonia only with the geographic qualifier “Northern” – violates national interests.

Leftist Tsipras controls 154 of the 300 votes in the parliament and is expected to survive the vote.
