SHWA deserves a tender from the Department of Arts and Culture.

Not even my designer rain boots were sufficient in that awful weather as they unveiled their plans to revive the township with Vodacom as a sponsor.

The event was held at the Orlando Towers and was hosted by Bonang Matheba.

Eish! mara the number of accidents in the wet weather ... shem!

Even Chaf Pozi, started leaking. And yes I am sending you my medical bill for the flu I sense coming as well *coughs*.

The invite said it would be a gala dinner ... so naturally I saved my appetite to indulge as much as I could.

The starter, which by the way is just a fancy word for cucumber, biltong and leaves they served us, was just yuck!

Hell when you are going to Chaf Pozi in so-where-to you expect braai wors, chakalaka and pap but no the organisers just went all Sandton on us. Argh!

The decor was up to standard. I don t see why that place doesn t look like that on the regular.

It doesn t matter how hard we try to hate Bonang, she is wining in every sense. She said her traditional-inspired dress was a Khosi Nkosi creation.

Nice but the dress requires more booty.

Spotted actor Nkululeko Tshirumbula. I think his presence was the only thing keeping Shwa awake.

His fitted blazer showed off the amount of time he spends at the gym. Oh, bless you young man! Muzart provided entertainment. Lead singer Rorisang Thandekiso looked like she swallowed a whole lamb over the weekend. One word for you Rori: #Sweat1000. THE local music industry has great potential of taking a good financial shape and contributing towards economic growth.

The challenges we face in the industry could be resolved by key role players in the industry. Among those role players are artists who have the power to transform the industry and make it one of the richest industries in the country. As an industry we need to believe in ourselves first before we expect the government as well as the private sector to believe and invest in our sector.

We always complain about various issues that cripple our industry and the finger always point at government and more specifically at the department of arts and culture.

Nonetheless I agree that there are many things that need to be corrected and some need urgent attention before the industry collapses.

However, one of the biggest challenges with artists is that they are not united.

They don t speak with one voice and they don t support initiatives and processes that can lead towards transformation of the industry. A typical example would be that if there is a campaign about music piracy, you will find only a few artists actively taking part in the campaigns. Those still enjoying good sales and their careers are on the rise could not be bothered.

Ten years down the line, the same artists who couldn t be bothered when times were good for them. will now speak out and plead for good Samaritans to rescue them.

Don Laka has become very vocal about the issues that need attention and that have been affecting the industry for so many years.

He raises serious issues about the airplay of South African music in our radio stations. Those enjoying high rotation on radio station and enjoying media attention are turning a blind eye and exclude themselves from important matters affecting the industry.
