- NGWAKO MALATJI Generations: The Legacy

A BAD luck-stricken telly actress and a bevy of struggling artists are seeking divine intervention to turn their fortunes around.

actress Manaka Ranaka, Lucy in the soapie, and faded kwaito stars Mshoza, Brickz, Mapaputsi and Bakstina have turned to the Incredible Happenings Church, led by Prophet Paseka Mboro Motsoeneng, for deliverance.

Sunday World learnt the well-known celebrities congregated at the Top Cherry restaurant in Zola, Soweto, Joburg, on Tuesday, where Mboro prayed for them.

Ranaka, who fatally ran over a school girl earlier this year, confirmed she attended Mboro s prayer session, but denied she was a member of his church.

Why are you even calling me about this issue? Is it because it s Mboro?” a furious Ranaka asked.

If it was pastor Ray McCauley of Rhema Bible Church, would you have called? Please respect us, man.”

Asked whether she would now start attending Incredible Happening services on Sundays, she retorted: If I have time, I m a busy person. For your information, I m Catholic.

Mshoza confirmed she had joined Mboro s church.

When you don t have God on your side, things don t go according to plan,” Mshoza said.

I have gone through a lot, like my failed marriage, and my career is struggling. So, I want God to play a role in my life.” Mshoza admitted to attending the prayer session in Zola on Tuesday, saying she had been praying with the popular man of the cloth every day since. Mapaputsi, dumped by his wife after his music career took a nose dive, confirmed attending the prayer session. In fact, I m the one who suggested to kwaito artists that it was high time we invited God into our lives. I organised them and invited Prophet Mboro to pray for us. The festive season is around the corner, so we want protection from God,” Mapaputsi said. But most importantly, the death of Mandoza prompted us to ask for prayers from Mboro. I d like to thank him for making time to pray with us.” Brickz, on trial for allegedly raping his cousin, spewed bile when contacted. What do you mean I went there for divine intervention? a furious Brickz asked. It s none of your f#%king business.” Attempts to reach Bakstina drew a blank. Mboro confirmed attending the prayer session in Soweto, saying the artists would start attending his church services on Sundays. I prayed for the artists, Mboro said. As men of God, we are always available to help people receive the word of God.”
