Clubs put players out to pasture

-

(goalkeeper) After signing Ricardo Goss from the already sold Bidvest Wits for next season, Mamelodi Sundowns have released Pieterse, we’ve reliably learnt. The 28-year-old failed to topple Denis Onyango and Kennedy Mweene since joining from Supersport United two years ago. But his contract was only ending at the end of next season.

(centre-back) Stellenbosch confirmed earlier this week that they’d parted ways with Gould, 37, after his deal lapsed on Tuesday. He played just 11 league games for Stellies, having joined on a oneyear deal in July last year.

(centre-back) Xulu won’t be part of Maritzburg United when the league resumes after being released on Tuesday upon the expiry of his deal. Xulu, 28, had a fruitful three years at the Team of Choice, raking up 89 games, having joined as a Chiefs’ reject in 2017. (right

“Tight”, as Malongoane is affectionately known, is clubless after Amakhosi decided against retaining him when his contract expired on Tuesday. The 32-year-old utility player struggled to pull himself together after breaking his leg in August 2018.

(left-back) Chippa United confirmed they’ve opted against renewing Makobela’s deal. Makobela has yet to feature in the league this season. The versatile defender has been a shadow of his old brilliant self since that nasty leg injury when he was tackled by then Chiefs centre-back Teenage Radebe in May 2018.

(midfielder) Having penned a pre-contract with Sundowns, Chiefs chose to let Maluleka, 31, go before the end of the season. He’ll only be registered as a Brazilian at the end of the season. (attack

Having been Baroka FC’S long-serving player after joining in 2015, Makgaka won’t play any part in Bakgaga’s remaining games. The 24-year-old ace was dumped when his deal expired at the end of last month.

(right-winger) Chippa United have announced they’ve amicably parted ways with Rakhale after his contract lapsed at the end of June. His work rate will secure him a club soon.

(winger) Mnyamane, 27, has left Supersport United. Matsatsantsa confirmed that the talented winger won’t be retained beyond his deal that came to an end.

(forward) Like Mnyamane, Supersport also didn’t renew Qalinge’s contract and the dribbling attacker has been shipped out. Qalinge, 28, linked up with Matsatsantsa in August last year.

(forward) Rayners, 24, won’t be involved in Stellenbosch’s remaining games. He was released after his contract expired this week. He has already signed a pre-contract with Supersport and will be eligible to play next season.
