ARCHBISHOP Emeritus Desmond Tutu has responded well to the first 48 hours of treatment for a recurring infection his daughter Thandeka Tutu-Gxashe said on Friday.

Tutu was admitted to hospital on Wednesday and Cape Town mayor Patricia de Lille visited him on Thursday. The archbishop expressed his deepest gratitude to all who had sent love and prayers since his admission to hospital said a statement issued by Tutu-Gxashe on Friday.
