BLESSER FACES JAIL

- AUBREY MOTHOMBENI mothombenia@sundayworld.co.za

A SENIOR Gauteng government official is under investigation by the police ’ s Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences (FCS) unit after allegedly sleeping with a 16-year-old girl.

The 47-year-old man, who is also a senior politician, is now likely to face two charges relating to his sexual relationship with the Centurion, Pretoria, Grade 10 learner. This after Sunday World reported last month that a senior SACP leader and government official had allegedly slept with his 18-year-old son ’ s girlfriend.

The official, who is married to a top businesswoman and cannot be named for legal reasons, allegedly had a sexual relationship with the high school learner while he knew that she was his son ’ s girlfriend.

The young woman said she went public about their relationship because “he intentionally slept with me without a condom while he knew that he had an STI ”.

Sunday World reported that the official even went to an extent of soliciting a threesome with the minor child ’ s friend, who was also a high school learner in Midrand.

Police spokesman Vuyisile Ngesi confirmed that the police were investigating the matter and that they were hot on the heels of the “blesser ”. “Yes, we have taken interest in the matter and a team of detectives has been established to investigate. The investigations are still ongoing,” said Ngesi.

Sunday World understands that the official will face several charges, including that of bribery.

The bribery charge was added after the man allegedly went to the minor child ’ s family flanked by his politician friends and tried to give them money for their silence and non-cooperation with the police.

According to officials close to the investigations, the police have already acquired an affidavit from the girl and her family about her relationship with the blesser.

“The investigations are right on track and detectives will be visiting the other girl who was involved in the threesome to get more information about the matter,” said an official who refused to be named.

Sunday World has established through family members of the child that the man allegedly offered them R100 000 in exchange for their silence. It has also come to our attention that the family had to get the girl to change schools after they feared for her safety.

The girl confirmed she changed schools after our news report.

“My family said I should go to another school because he was always on my case. He came to my home several times trying to give us money. He even sent his friends who are politicians to come to speak to us. My family decided that I was no longer safe there,” she said.

The girl ’ s guardian said the family was still devastated by what the man did to their daughter.

“We have left everything in the hands of the police. We have given them everything they needed to pursue this matter,” she said.

The guardian confirmed that the man sent a delegation with money to apologise on his behalf.

“But we could not accept it because what he did is just not acceptable. No amount of money is going to change what has happened, ” she said.

The top government official was not available for comment on the matter this week. He also did not respond to our text messages and emails sent to him.
