DA’s Kani loves helping people

-

PHIL Kani, the DA’s municipal candidate for Ward 4, has achieved much despite all odds.

He is an inspiring example of what hard work, commitment to sound values and determination can achieve.

Kani was born in 1975 and raised on Stanley’s Farm outside Kenton-on-Sea. After he matriculated in 1999, his first job was as Coastal Care team leader in Ndlambe.

When that contract ended, he moved down to Cape Town. It was here that he advanced his education and experienced the DA’s Western Cape governance. While working at a call centre, he studied business administration at Cape College, followed by a BA degree at the University of the Western Cape from 2011 to 2013. In 2014 he returned to Kenton. Upon seeing his CV, the DA invited him to register as a candidate councillor.

He accepted in order to serve his community more effectively.

“I love helping people,” Kani said.

He has since successfully completed the DA’s Leadership Certificate of Achievement. “BEING an unemployed single mother in this municipality has given me first-hand experience of the difficulties facing black women today,” the EFF’s Ward 7 candidate, Thozama Gloria Xundulu said.

“I have witnessed the sad realities of unemployment, poor living conditions, as well as corruption in this ANC-led ward.

“It is because of these difficulties, as well as love for the unemployed that I have remained a dedicated, strong and competent leader, who seeks to lead the people of Ward 7 out of poverty and dissatisfaction,” Xundulu said.

“The standpoint of the EFF is to rebuild and regain the dignity of the poor, the unemployed and the forgotten impoverished black masses on the ground.”

If elected, Xundulu said she would be accessible to the public 24/7 “as a means of accountability and efficiency which ANC and DA councillors lack”.

“I, as well as the EFF collective, will, as mandated by the people, eradicate shacks by building spacious homes which will include flushing toilets; fix potholes within 48 hours, ensure that healthcare facilities are open 24/7, and also abolish the corrupt tender system,” Xundulu said.
