playoff. The EP Finals will be held in Port Elizabeth on July 30 and 31.

Our Friday night draw was for R800. The youngest ever tumble-drum operator, Cameron Ridl, four years old and grandson of John Homewood, did the honours. He performed flawlessly – drawing the number of a member who was not in attendance! Hard luck for Doug Walters. Next week the pot will stand at R900. Remember, you have to be there to collect.

Duties for the week July 25-30: Team B – Stan Long, Rob Owsley, Jacques Krige and Brian Aldag; Team C – Clive Bartlett, Bresby Du Preez, Steven Minaar and Phil Taylor.

The manager will be Peter Ford. There will be a practice match on August 9 in Port Alfred against the ladies who have been selected for their mini-districts tournament. It is on a public holiday and you will be given the details shortly. Congratulations to you all on being selected and good bowling at the tournament.

Last Tuesday we had a good turnout for Rosehill SUPERSPAR day with some runaways and the rest being closely contested.

Pieter Stegman and his team of Theresa Coetser and Sally Wormald had an easy win to take home the SPAR vouchers in defeating Sieggie Rohrs’s team by 10 points and a big shot profit. Runner-up on the day was Mike Tomlinson’s team of trips, defeating James Fox’s team.

Last Thursday we played the fourth round of the inter-club Timm and Vroom Cups against Port Alfred at home. Our men’s teams had a successful day, winning three of our matches and losing one with a positive shot profit for the day. Overall we trail Port Alfred on 18 points to our 14 points, but Kowie has the positive shot profit, we have not given up yet. In the ladies’ section our teams shared the honours, winning one game each, with us having the positive shot profit. Overall Port Alfred is well ahead, with no chance of us catching them.

On Saturday, with threats of bad weather on the way, we only had three rinks playing but it must be remembered that we had three teams at the EA fours competition. For our club bowls we played the snowball competition and, after many roll-overs, the score of four was drawn for the four selected ends and we had a winner. Mike Tomlinson’s team of John Hubbard, Basil Clarke and Gill
