THERE seems to be no stopping the walkers, Jean and Carol Nepgen, who were in Gauteng for the Lester Mills Memorial 10km and 5km Night Race at the University of Pretoria on September 14.

Jean completed the 5km in 0:53:35 and Carol completed the 10km in 1:18:53.

They then headed to Pietermaritzburg, where they competed in the Capital Classic 12-Hour Day Circuit Race on September 17.

Rainy weather throughout the day made for a challenging event and Jean stopped after having completed 26km. Carol finished on 36km.

The Kowie Striders committee is currently hard at work preparing for their annual 27km event, which will take place on Saturday, October 8.

Starting at the Big Pineapple in Bathurst and finishing at the Port Alfred Country Club, the race is a popular event on the running calendar and attracts athletes from all over South Africa.

There is also a 10km event and this starts and ends at the Port Alfred Country Club.
