Talk of the Town

Holidays by rail

- ... with Tony King

HELLO Port Alfred, it’s been a while since we were last in Talk of the Town but we are still here at the tourism office, working hard for you.

We had such a remarkable response to our last advertorial about all the cruise ships around our coast this summer season. I really can’t remember ever seeing so many ships in our waters, so this is certainly cruise season! Please ask for details about our many cruise holidays.

Visit my website for only a few cruising ideas in Southern Africa http://www.faresfairtravel.com/ using-transport-types-for-your -holiday.php

I have also been getting various requests for information on train holidays so the one we are advertising this week is really something special. Come on Port Alfred, let’s get a group tour together for August next year leaving from here. Please tell your friends and family about this deal – it will be such fun to have a local group visiting Namibia.

All the single people come along too.

Costs are given on the advert as an indication and obviously flight costs are hugely variable, but early booking is advisable.

There are lots of other local train holiday ideas:

The Blue Train (still probably the most luxurious train in the world)

Rovos Rail (also very luxury 5 star old world style travel for example from Tanzania or to Victoria Falls – many options)

The Shongololo Express (three longish train tours of around 12 days around Southern Africa – Rovos Rail’s 3 star product)

Desert Express (Namibia’s luxury train travel )

JB Train Tours (a huge variety of train holidays in South Africa) Maluti Wanderer Steam Safari (a world experience – very expensive – on our doorstep for lovers of steam engines – March next year )

Premier Classe (train travel between Cape Town, Durban and Johannesburg mostly)

See the website address given above for some rail holiday ideas as well. But remember we can assist you with rail travel worldwide, even steam trains in the UK!

And that’s not all, we do travel worldwide – the works! So if you need a hand to hold while we work through your travel bookings and arrangements give us a shout.
