Burglars run off with computers

-

A NEMATO school computer room was pillaged by burglars earlier this month.

The incident was only reported on Tuesday. The burglars gained entry to Dambuza Primary School by forcing open the front door.

They stole five computers. Nemato police opened a case.

Burglars broke into a garden flat in Ferndale Road in the early hours of Saturday morning and stole food, two leather jackets, a handbag containing cash, a cellphone and a duffel bag into which the stolen items were placed.

MultiSecurity responded to a panic signal from the premises at about 2.50am. The homeowner also called for police response.

After making contact with the homeowner and tenant, the MultiSecurity response officer reported that the security gate at the flat had been forced open but there was no sign of forced entry on the door itself. The burglars also took the tenant’s flat keys. Police have opened a case.

A man on Belgrove farm near Port Alfred fought off two would-be burglars last Saturday afternoon.

The man was in the kitchen when he saw two men jumping over the back fence. He chased them and caught one of them, upon which the other turned back and attacked him to free his accomplice. Both burglars got away.

MultiSecurity and the police responded to the scene. Nothing was stolen.

Stray cattle proved a problem again when a truck collided with a cow in Albany Road on Tuesday night.

MultiSecurity made contact with the driver of the RB Logistics truck. The driver was uninjured and the cow was not seriously injured as the truck had been driving slowly. It did damage to the truck’s front grille.

Ndlambe fire department officials and SAPS also attended the scene.

There was an attempted break-in at a guest house in Park Road in the early hours of Tuesday morning.

MultiSecurity responded to an alarm signal and reported that the burglars had forced open the front door but did not gain entry as the beeping noise from the alarm system seemed to have frightened them off. Nothing was taken.

There was a two-car collision in Bank Lane on Monday morning.

A business owner in the street alerted MultiSecurity. A Nissan Champ light delivery vehicle was towing a blue Audi and while they were turning right into Main Street a blue Hyundai drove straight into the towed car.

Police opened an accident report and Gardmed attended to the driver of the blue Hyundai.

MultiSecurity also responded to numerous alerts about dogs barking excessively and suspicious loitering in various neighbourhoods over the past week.
