Talk of the Town

Bathurst Country Affair around the corner

-

IT’S a short step away to the annual Bathurst Country Affair (BCA) on November 5.

“Remember to grab a programme and map as soon as you get into the village so you don’t miss out on anything,” organiser Tanya Schenk said.

The focus of the BCA is on outstanding food and culinary-related experiences. There will be wine tastings at The Pig and Whistle as well as at Wiles Gallery.

“Another new tasting experience will be a tea tasting at Morley House, truly a magnificent setting for this kind of experience,” Schenk said.

“Upmarket exhibitors once again can’t wait to meet you and delight you with their beautiful treats, meats, cheeses and more,” she said.

“Our friendly village supermarket will be spoiling the kids this year too. Pop in and meet Aunty Jenny and her team and treat your little ones to candy floss, soft serve, slush puppies, face painting, a jumping castle, kidfriendly food and balloons. It will be a real treat for tiny guests.”

The 60s Pub and Restaurant will be hosting the buskers stage so aspiring muses are welcome to come along and earn their lunch money, or simply just sit and listen to the vibes.

All the restaurants and pubs in the village will be serving breakfast, lunches and dinners, so book to avoid disappointment.

“Don’t forget The Pink Lady for the most amazing milkshakes in the world,” Schenk said.

The interesting and weird Bokdrol Spitting Competition takes place at The Fig and Daisy this year, while the ever popular Pineapple Throwing Competition also returns.

The talented Pro-Carmine Choir will be performing at St John’s Church at 2.30pm. It is usually a very well attended event so it is advisable to get there early.

“The Waitron Race is always fun,” Schenk said. “Come and support the lassies and laddies as they follow their course to victory.”

Live entertainment will be provided at local venues to further enhance your experience.

The full programme will be uploaded onto the website next week. “Like” their Facebook page to get regular updates. For further information e-mail Lihani on

“We cannot wait to welcome you to Bathurst,” Shenk said.
