Pru Peacock and Helen van Harmelen's 48 secured them the runners-up position followed by Kirsten Dales and Margie Reid who came home third with 46 points. There were some excellent individual performances, the best being the nett 64s shot by Lillian and Helen Lockyear. KGB Results Tuesday October 25: An excellent morning dawned for a change, slightly overcast, warm and no wind of consequence. Thirty-five players took advantage of the halcyon conditions to be drawn into eight four-balls and one three-ball to play the normal two-to-count Stableford alliance. A massive 97 points was carded by Colin Armstrong, Wilton Adcock, Johny Johnston and John Muggeridge to win the competition. Second placed Vino Bearzi, Mike Stadler, John Crandon and Peter Longhurst were all of six points in arrears on 91. Even the fair Rosie Calmeyer-Leach could not rescue her partners Cecil Grobler and Len Bohnen from the infamous Hamer en Sukkel at the 19th Hole. The three-ball carded a lowly 73 + 5 = 78 points. Par three birdies were holed by Colin, Wilton (sixth), Rosie and Derick van Harmelen (eighth). The best individual nett scores were shot by Derick, Colin, Johny Johnston (67) and Paul Fryer (69). Friday October 28: A rather drizzly, grey morning saw 30 players drawn into six four-balls and two three-balls in a two-to-count Stableford alliance. As the rain persisted soaking everyone on the course, 10 players returned to the drier climes of the clubhouse without finishing the competition. These ten collectively were awarded the Hamer en Sukkel “in absentia”. Of the twenty finishers, the best scores were shared by (1) Sonia Reynolds, Mike Stadler, David Groenewald and Martin Lambrechts and (2) Tommy Meyer, Bryan Connack, George Lake and Rosie Calmeyer-Leach, both teams carding 89 points.
