Sad acceptance of damning AG report

- BARRY MACAULEY REG AND RON QUIN

SADDENED to see the bland acceptance of the AG’s report on how the inept drones, who stroll through the corridors of municipal power, handled their responsibilities to the electorate for another year.

People from the real world, after receiving such a damning report for the umpteenth time (as you so rightly say), would by now have a slight suspicion that they were not “fit for purpose”, and that they should, possibly, seek employment more commensurate with their “talents”. This would serve to reconnect them to us, the hoi polloi, who actually contribute to the fiscus (alien concept though this may seem).

Ah well, maybe next year. Although I suspect that while their role models occupy the opposite end of the spectrum to that of, for example, Thuli, Pravin, Sipho and Helen, the pursuit of excellence will be, sadly, another non-event. RECENTLY we sold our house on the marina and will be moving into Settlers Retirement Village in due course.

Naturally at our age we required assistance with this undertaking and resolved to use local businesses as much as possible. And how pleased we are that we did! We would like to extend our gratitude for the caring, professional and efficient support of the following companies:

Debbie and Walter Duncan of Route 72 couriers, who were most obliging in moving our furniture into storage;

Sue of Executive Garden Services (EGS) for moving all of our pot plants;

Gail and Howard Elliott of Bathurst Furnishers for buying our furniture;

Anne’s Upholsterers (who covered cushions in one day!)

Thank you too to all the staff of these companies, all of who were outstanding. If anyone is needing to move in and around Port Alfred, we would honestly say “look local” – you have all the expertise right on your doorstep.
