AT 11.35am last Thursday a report of theft was received from the Nemato Spar in Biscay Road.

The first suspect was wearing a red jersey and a leather jacket and was spotted across from Standard Bank and arrested. The suspect told SAPS that his friend was also involved and gave a description of what his friend was wearing.

He was spotted at Prestons and also arrested. One suspect stole a bottle of Ship Sherry worth R32.90 and the other a Tullamore Dew whiskey worth R249.90.

Last Wednesday, August 2, at 12.08am it was reported that a shack was burning at the back of Nemato police station, and that the fire control arrived. At 12.21am it was reported that a second fire control vehicle had arrived. The fire was eventually brought under control but it is not known what had caused the fire.

Ali Furniture’s in Main Street was the scene of a fight last Friday at 12.16pm. Police removed the offender from the premises.

Also last Friday in Park Road at 10.45am MultiSecurity received a call from a resident reporting that the traffic examiner had requested she assist them with eye tests because their machine was broken.

The resident said that an unknown male came to her for an eye test and the man asked why she was all by herself. He added to the complainant’s anxiety, when he said that he used to be in jail for rape and theft but was now a born-again Christian. More patrols were established in the area.

At 12.46am last Saturday, the MultiSecurity control room received an alarm signal from a premise in Dickenson Road. Security arrived and reported the front door was standing open. Fortunately, the resident was not home at the time of the apparent break-in, but reported that a big flatscreen TV was taken as well as jewellery. The perpetrator(s) gained entry by forcing open the side bedroom window and cutting open the burglar bars.

Also on Saturday, an alarm was activated at Country Meat Market on Albany Road at 2.36am. A positive break-in was confirmed by MultiSecurity officers who attended the scene.

The perpetrator(s) gained entry by breaking the bottom part of the middle window on the side of the premises. It was reported that nothing had been taken and that the tills were lying on the floor of the shop.
