LAST week saw us playing Kowie BC in two competitions.

Four men’s teams played the fourth round of the Kenton/Kowie Inter-Club.

Kenton, with Dave Mc Neill as skip, won his game with a score of 17 against 14. The other teams did not do so well. The score to date is now Kenton 14 points – 23, Kowie 18 points + 23. Two more rounds to go.

The two ladies’ teams playing the Bess Tweedie won one and lost one. Score to date is peels – both with eight points, but Kowie have a shot profit of plus 11.

During the weekend we played the Eastern Areas (EA) Men’s and Ladies’ Trips. Skips Rob Croly and Dave West were at Albany BC and Ruth Low at Kowie.

Rob Croly with Bill Bedford and Brian Aldag won through, so will play again this coming weekend August 19 and 20. Venue not yet announced but will be known by today’s publication, so watch the notice board or contact our club captain if anyone is keen to support play.

Dave West and Ruth Low’s teams had close games but unfortunately did not win through.

Tomorrow we play the monthly Personal Trust-sponsored Trips with the braai to follow. Late entries should be given to the club captain Rodney Austin.

Last Friday night’s draw worth R1 400 was won by Stompie Bellingan. Tomorrow night it will revert back to R500. The whisky draw was won by Brian Aldag.

The forthcoming event is the Ladies’ 19th Inter-Sub Districts Competition which will be played at Albany BC from Friday August 25 to Sunday August 27, with the opening ceremony at 1.50pm on the 25th. Duties for the week August

Also to be noted is that the controlling bodies are beginning to tighten up on smoking on the greens during play.
