LAST Sunday was the annual Cape Town Marathon and 10km race.

The race was run in perfect conditions although it did get a bit hot towards the end. Well done to Sticks Stiglingh who finished third in the 10km 60+ age group in 41 minutes. Marianne Stiglingh trained hard for the 42km but unfortunately pulled a muscle during the race and had to withdraw.

This past weekend was the annual Kenton Rhino run. A tough 14km beach and bush trail run plus a shorter 5km run. The club had a good turnout . Unfortunately, full results are not yet available but well done to all who ran, namely Rob Joiner, Rick Betts, Richard Legg and family, Cathy and Mike Momberg, Alan and Marietjie Robb, Lyn Harbrecht, Avril Beyleveld, Rebecca and her dad Mike.

Carol and Jean Nepgen continue to pound the roads. Carol won the ladies’ walk at the Rooies 10km night race in Middleburg. They then competed in the Capital Classic 12 hour day race in Pietermaritzburg, with Carol walking 31km and Jean 23km. Apparently there was quite a bit of rain.

Don’t forget our Pineapple Run on October 14. We need lots of helpers on the day. On the 15th we have our helpers’ run followed by a braai. 3Km walk/run 1 Lethemba Jekana 10:53 2 Ayabonga Nodolgwe 14:57 3 Lubabalo Sali 15:00 4 Zanethem Dyazala 15:15 5 Leah Shanks 16:19 6 Elmi Jones 17:45 7 Yamkele Dayimani 19:00 8 Yolanda Nodolgwe 22:00 9 Lenomtha Mavata 26:13 10 Lindiwe Sali 26:31 5 Walk 1 Annamarie Hockley 35:00 2 Rene Philpott 43:33 3 Clair Purdon 45:21 4 Susan Hunt 45:21 5 Billy Futter 50:04 6 Alan Robb 50:04 7 Graham Oliver 59:10 5Km Run 1 Ayabonga Saul 20:15 2 Kevin Lee 24:42 3 Donald Underwood 36:46 4 Oliver Lange 31:17 5 Justin Philpott 31:55 6 Mike Momberg 33:29 7 Cathy Momberg 38:41 8km Run 1 Sizakele Dayimani 30:11 2 Zamile Xanti 33:13 3 Andrew Philpott 37:08 4 Rick Betts 37:23 5 Richard Legg 37:23 6 Alex Weed 44:52 7 Rob Joiner 49:20
