MONDAY’S assembly at Port Alfred High School was longer than usual with the top five academic achievers from Grades 4 to 12 recognised for their third term results.

Pearson launched the Duckling Derby fundraiser on behalf of the Friends of the School, reminding pupils that there are a number of prizes up for grabs for those who bring in the ticket sales. The winning class receives a cake; the pupil who sells the most tickets wins R500 as does the pupil who sells the winning ticket.
Then there is also a lucky draw for R250 and only those pupils who have sold tickets qualify for this competition. This annual fundraiser will end on December 23 at Kiddies Beach when all 1000 ducklings will be released from the bridge into the Kowie River. Whichever duckling reaches shore first on the incoming tide will win R5 000 for its ticketholder while the second and third duckling ticketholders will win R3 000 and R1 000 respectively.

This was followed by a delicious cake and a short speech by Dave Hawkins in his capacity as a member of the PAHS governing body during first break. The week’s sports results are as follows: Archery
