October 10: The weather was mild, sunny and very pleasant for golf on Tuesday afternoon, a very unusual state of affairs for ladies’ golf on this day of the week. Twenty players played an Individual Stableford sponsored by Viv Jordan. Ronel Hough carded a fine 40 points to win the competition. Margie Siegers came second on 38 while Wendy Counihan counted out both Sandy Fryer and Glynnis Renecle on 35 to come third. Lillian Neave holed the only par three birdie of the afternoon, her effort coming on the eighth. However, it was Bridget McNelis’s drive that was closest to the pin on this Rosehill Driving Range sponsored hole. Ronel was closest on Top Carpet’s sixth and Sue Roll on Wimpy’s 11th. Margie’s second shot was the nearest to the pin on River Spa’s 13th. The longest drive competitions were held on the fifth and struck by Pogs Smith in the lower handicap section and by Bridget in the more generous handicaps section. Ronel was the only player to shoot a sub 70 nett score (68). The competition on October 24 will be a better-ball Stableford sponsored by the Ocean Basket. KGB RESULTS

Tuesday October 10: A little bit of early morning rain did not dishearten the 25 players to any great degree. They were drawn into four four-balls and three three-balls to play the usual two-to-count Stableford alliance. Dale Wisener, Barrie B Brady and John Muggeridge put 87 points on their scorecard and, with a three-ball’s five bonus points, came home to win with 92. Philip van der Byl, Chris Niebieszczanski, Martin Lambrechts, and Cliff Roberts scored 89 points to take second place. Gavin Richards, Brian Shirley, Martin Weaver and Eric Segers found the going much more difficult as they carded a lowly 77 points with the unwelcome result of having to share the 19th hole with the dreaded Hamer en Sukkel trophy. Despite the slowness of the course resulting from the showers, Philip shot 79 to nett a fine 64 for the best round of the day. Dale (67) and John Dell (69) all enjoyed better than average nett rounds.

Friday October 13: For a change the weather turned out to be great for Friday morning and 35 players answered the call for the early morning draw. Eight four-balls and one 3-ball battled it out in a 2-to-count Stableford alliance. Andy Stembridge, Andy Manson, Derick van Harmelen and Jan Immelman scored 91 points to win the competition. Guy Cash, Nick Oosthuizen, Barrie Brady and John Muggeridge took the runners-up slot with 89 points. The Hamer en Sukkel shared the 19th hole table with John Dell, Eugene Erasmus, Tom Tagg and Eric Segers after carding a lowly 74. Brian Reid and Andy Stembridge both made two-clubs on the eighth. The best nett rounds were shot by John Muggeridge (67), Gavin Richards, Bryan Robinson (68), Cliff Roberts and Mike Stadler (69).
