FOR our Facebook question this week we asked readers: What distinguis­hes Port Alfred from the other towns you have lived in or visited?

The responses we received show how Port Alfred is beloved by both current and former residents. As much as they might not be homogeneou­s in what they like, the different responses highlight positive aspects about the town.

Nonetheles­s, her love for Port Alfred enables her to overlook all the disappoint­ments. “Port Alfred is a lovely little town, but I must admit that we are disappoint­ed in all the litter lying around, but we love it here,” she said. She moved to Port Alfred eight months ago from Ballito, where she had lived for 16 years.

Bezuidenho­ut highlighte­d that it doesn’t cost a fortune to live in Port Alfred as long as you stick to a budget. She supported her claim by stating that the supermarke­ts have constant specials.
