Tennis camp goes down a treat in Kenton

Match puts top spin on an informative weekend

-

KENTON Tennis Club hosted a group of eight under-13 boys and girls from Hermitage House Independent School for a tennis camp last weekend.

Hermitage House is just outside Kirkwood. The pupils had coaching on Friday and Saturday and played an invitational side comprising young local tennis players, including two development players from Marselle.

Hermitage House headmaster Hilton Keeton thanked the club for hosting them.

“Our children not only enjoyed it very much but learnt a lot from the camp. It was a great way to end the weekend with a match, and our players relished the opportunity to play with stronger players,” Keeton said.

“It was fantastic to see a high standard of tennis players from various places and all walks of life (Sunday’s River Valley, Kenton, Port Alfred, Kingswood and development players) coming together and playing against one another in a competitive yet enjoyable manner.

“Although the local Kenton tennis talent proved too strong, the players’ enthusiasm and commitment not only resulted in some good tennis being played, but much camaraderie and friendships were developed. Thank you very much to the Kenton Tennis Club for hosting us, it was a great tennis experience for all.”

Kenton Tennis Club captain Sue Baxter said everyone enjoyed it and friendships were formed.

“We are planning to go and play at Kirkwood as well.”
