Tickets already selling for next one

PROVING the point that you don’t have to be a resident to win in the many local fundraising events, the top-three winners of the recent Port Alfred Child Welfare raffle all came from outside the area.

First-prize winner Helen Mattison is from Johannesburg, and donated the quilt back to Child Welfare to help raise more funds.

“We are very grateful for Helen’s generosity,” said Child Welfare Port Alfred manager Susan Harty. “The quilt is a very good quality. Should anyone wish to make an offer to purchase the quilt, please contact the Child Welfare offices on (046) 624-5793.”

Second-prize winner Milise Cox, also from Johannesburg, was not available to collect her prize and sent her mom, Delene Spence, to collect on her behalf.

Her prize was a wooden rocking horse, hand-crafted and donated by the Lower Albany Woodworkers’ Guild.

Third prize went to Nicola Crawford from Pietermaritzburg.

Meanwhile, Child Welfare is already selling tickets for its next raffle.

There are 21 prizes available, including horse trails, stays at local guest houses, superb lunches, golfing foursomes, supper and more.

“We would sincerely like to thank all our sponsors who, year after year, give prizes to enable us to raise funds for Child Welfare,” said Harty.

“These include Book Ends, Blooming Brilliance, Buco, C’est la Vie, Charisma A, Coffee at the Mall, Debonairs, Decadent, Fish Aways, Fish River Diner, Graze by the River, Homebase, Icon, Kawayan, Lavender Tree Trading, Leach Pharmacy, Let’s Go Tours, MyPond, Nature’s Way, Oceana, Outdoor Focus, Oxygen Fitness, Palms Video, PA Butchery, Panorama Guest House, Port Alfred Vet Clinic, Red Leaf Nursery, Royal Port Alfred Golf Club, R72 Port to Port, Salon Florence, Scissors, Sports and All, Swimming Centre, Standerwick Nursery, Steers, Tideline, The Bean and Olive, The Halyards, The Penny Farthing, Wharf Street Brew Pub, Wimpy, 3-Sisters Equestrian Centre and Treehouses.”
