Richly blessed on Valentine’s Day

ON Valentine’s Day, El Shaddai Christian Academy pupils went to the Port Alfred Soup Kitchen with the intention to help out and bless, but the tables were turned when they were the ones blessed and helped out.

They were blessed to see how people have dedicated their lives to helping others in need and were helped out by learning what unconditio­nal love is all about. It was an eye-opening experience as testified by Hannah and Holly Naude.

Hannah, in Grade 10, said: “Helping at the Soup Kitchen people take time to help in the community, driving around the location and seeing how others live and comparing my life with theirs. You can see the happiness when you hand over the things.”

Holly, also in Grade 10, said: “It was very heart warming and it opened our eyes to the much bigger world and community that we live in. We got to see how some people live and how fortunate we are to have families like we do.

“We handed out food to various different homes and just to give them the food is a happy. We handed out little letters with a sweet to people for Valentine’s Day too.”

Despite the heat, the El Shaddai pupils got the chance to sing some worship songs in one resident’s garden, and many people joined in the worship. They also sang for a school in the township and in return they sang to the El Shaddai pupils.

“It was beautiful,” Holly said. “We even handed out donuts and suckers to the children of the various homes and took many photos with the children.
