Pick n Pay Night Bowls – Round 3

-

THE third round of the Pick n Pay Night Bowls competition got underway on Friday evening in beautiful weather after the rain of the previous two Fridays where one was actually rained-out.

In Round two teams shared the “Performer of the Night” prize because of their same scores. Section A, DP Engineering and Section B, Pig and Whistle with their big wins of six points plus 21 shot profit. The swindle board raffle was won by Chris from Pig and Whistle team and the roll-over competition was won by Chris Roberts Construction who they were not in attendance at the last two prize-giving.

Round 3 prize-giving started with the swindle board raffle being drawn and CM Heunis won the bottle of whisky on a team ticket. Next the roll-over competition was drawn and the score for the four ends was “one” and, as happens, there were four teams with a score of one for the night so the prize money rolls over to next round which makes the next rounds prize R120.

“Performer of the Night” was handed out to the winners of the third round for their win of six points and shot profit of 13.

“Lions do a wonderful job of keeping the hunger pangs at bay with the sale of their fast foods from the pavilion and the music belting out over the greens,” event convenor Mike Tomlinson said.

“There is no banning on the Lions’ disc jockey, as with the St George’s Park band who were apparently bothering the umpires [during the second test against Australia].

“The fourth round is scheduled for Friday March 16, so see you all there and bring the family and friends along for a wonderful social evening around the greens.”
