Dunlop Express donates soccer kit
Nemato football club Paubs were thrilled to receive new three-piece soccer kits from Dunlop Express Port Alfred last week.
Co-owners Francois and Andrea Liebenberg also gave the team a new ball.
Despite being new in town and having only recently met employee Sandiso Tyam, the Liebenbergs were impressed by Tyam’s excellent service and became motivated to do something for the community beyond the working environment.
It was Tyam who asked if the company would sponsor kit for his soccer team.
“He has been working for us since we arrived here in January. This is a small town and we get support from everyone and we appreciate that,” Francois said.
Before moving to Port Alfred, the Liebenbergs were based in Makhanda (formerly Grahamstown).
Francois was of the view that buying kit for a football club benefited the community at large. “This is for the community and this is a small town, not a city, so we are trying to help wherever we can,” he said.
Paubs coach Luthando Matomela extended gratitude to the Liebenbergs on behalf of the team.
“This means a lot to us as we all know that the market is not doing well,” he said.
Paubs play in the Ndlambe Local Football Association League and the kit comes at the right time when the local league is about to start.
