Here is Port Alfred High School’s ‘Reading in Unusual Places’ winners
The annual Reading in Unusual Places competition held by Port Alfred High School was another great success and encouraged pupils throughout the school to engage more with reading and books.
The competition was initiated in 2017 by the late Bev McLellan, a mother figure at PAHS who passed away suddenly earlier in 2018.
“It is a privilege to keep the competition going in her name,” said the school’s head of marketing Laura Guest.
Entries were from across various age groups and once again delivered the weird, the wonderful and the whacky. Laela Cannon in grade 3 took top honours across the board with a winning photo of her reading a book under an umbrella in the shower.
Bargain Books Rosehill were once again the main sponsors and the winners were delighted to receive vouchers as well as goodie bags sponsored by the PAHS Supporters and Alumni Association.
These were presented at a recent school assembly. Plans are underfoot for a new twist to the competition in 2019. OPEN 1st – Chloe Cox 2nd – Juaro French 3rd – Liam Cannon GRADES 1 – 3 GIRLS 1st – Laela Cannon 2nd – Tasha Marais 3rd – Elizabeth Henderson GRADES 1 – 3 BOYS
