An alleged thief was caught red-handed after stealing from Kowie New Agency (KNA) last Wednesday afternoon.

A MultiSecurity officer pursued the man, whose name was known. He was caught in front of the Kowie Museum in Pascoe Crescent.

MultiSecurity control room phoned KNA to inform the owner, and a staff member reported that the same suspect had robbed her daughter when she was on her way to the shop in Station Hill the previous night and an elderly woman earlier that morning.

MultiSecurity handed the suspect over to the police. But when the control room called the police station later to get a case number, the charge office said no case had been opened and there was not even an incident report.

MultiSecurity responded to an alarm at Liquor Land in Albany Road in the early hours of Friday morning, and reported there had been a break-in.

The control room informed the owner and police, who both attended.

The burglar(s) smashed a hole in the front sliding door to gain entry. They stole a box of Klipdrift brandy as well as another 12 bottles of alcohol. They also took a number of packets of cigarettes.

The owner asked for assistance in checking the CCTV footage at the shop. A guard was also posted.

There was a break-in at a home in Henry Street on Monday night.

MultiSecurity responded to an alarm at about 8pm and the response officer found a window open without burglar bars and a broken window.

He also saw clothes lying on a bed and a cellphone on the top of a bar fridge. The owner was informed and said his domestic worker had been at the premises during the day. He was not aware of any broken window or cellphone on the fridge.

MultiSecurity control room informed SAPS, who also attended.

When the domestic worker was contacted, she said when she left the premises, all was in order with all windows closed and no clothes had been left on the bed.

MultiSecurity asked the police to fetch the clothing and cellphone left lying in the house, and a case was opened. Police forensics were expected to dust for fingerprints the following day.

MultiSecurity responded to an alarm at a home in Hewson Lane last Thursday afternoon, and found there had been a burglary.

The control room informed SAPS. The burglar(s) gained entry by breaking a window without burglar bars at the back of the premises and stole socks and a pair of takkies.
