Kleinemonde charity golf day raises huge R300,000

-

The Kleinemonde Golf Day raised a record-breaking R300,000 in aid of Hospice and other local community organisations.

The popular event, hosted by the Royal Port Alfred Golf Club on December 22, was a great success, thanks to the overwhelming support from local and visiting golfers.

“Our special thanks to the management and staff of the Royal Port Alfred Golf Club for an excellent competition,” Sunshine Coast Hospice administrator Angela Hibbert said.

The organisers of the fundraising initiative were Rory and Mel Gailey, assisted by Wayne Walker and many other committed members of the Kleinemonde community.

“Sunshine Coast Hospice is overjoyed to receive the lion’s share of the funds raised towards funding their homebased, cancer care programme.

“Hospice joins the organisers and funders in thanking all the golfers and volunteers who contributed to the wonderful success of the day.

“This was indeed a community effort and it is encouraging and heartwarming to see how volunteers rallied around to realise this magnificent achievement,” Hibbert said.

“We are most grateful to all the sponsors of the event; to the numerous individuals and local businesses for their contributions and most especially to our main sponsor Ken Hall & Associates for their very generous donations,” Hibbert said.

Ken and Cindy Hall, who have a holiday home in Kleinemonde, have sponsored the event for nine years.

The couple encouraged their business associates who share their passion for Hospice to support the event over the years, and as a result this has culminated in the remarkable success achieved.

Hospice presented the main funders of the event with “Heart for Hospice” certificates in recognition of their generosity towards, and support of, Sunshine Coast Hospice.

The main sponsors were: Ken Hall & Associates, Atlas 360 Commercial Vehicle Services (Pty) Ltd, GIC Insurance Group, Hill and Delamain, African Connections Logistical Services (Pty) Ltd, Corsair Projects (Pty) Ltd, KwaNokeng Oil and Pulsit Electronics (Pty) Ltd.

“There are exciting plans for the next golf day as we celebrate the 10th anniversary of the event in 2020,” Hibbert said.
