LADIES’ RESULTS

January 7: Ladies’ Tuesday afternoon golf got underway last week subsequent to the completion of the holiday season and 28 players answered the call to play an Individual Stableford sponsored by Viv Jordan.

Janet Blatch carded a very good 40 points to win the afternoon’s proceeding­s.

Just one point in arrears, Margie Reid captured the runner-up slot by counting out Sonia Reynolds into 3rd place, both players carding 39 points.

Jenny Ralph birdied the only two-club of the afternoon, her effort finding the bottom of the hole on the par three 8th.

Nobody found the green on Top Carpets’ 6th, while Angela Trollip‘s drive ended up closest to the hole on Rosehill Driving Range’s 8th. Pri Bladen was nearest on Wimpy’s11th and Pogs Smith ended “closet for two” on Kekkel and Kraai’s13th.

The longest drive competitio­ns were held on the 1st fairway and won by Angela Trollip and Jenny Adair in the lower and higher handicap sections respective­ly.

Individual nett rounds of note were made by Janet Blatch (68), Margie Reid and Sonia Reynolds (69).

The competitio­n on January 21 will be a three-ball Stableford Alliance sponsored by the Camelot Spa.

FISHAWAYS’ PORT ALFRED MIXED

January 11: The Saturday morning mixed competitio­n got underway again after the holidays, again sponsored by Fishaways. Fifteen players participat­ed, drawn into three- and four-balls in a two-to-count Stableford alliance.

In a bizarre ending, three of the covies all ended up on 78 points.

The fourth and the winners on 82 points were Eric Siegers, Andy Manson, Glen and Tim Shanks.

Using the back nine for a count out, the runners up were Danny and Gaby Tarpani, playing alongside Tony and Pat Halse. All players received discount vouchers from the sponsors.

There were neither any two-clubs or individual rounds of distinctio­n, the best of the latter being Glen Shanks’ nett 70.

Glynnis Renecle won the bottle of wine sponsored by the RPAGC for being closest to the pin on the 8th.

The Pam golfers donated R1,000 to the SPCA during December.

KGB RESULTS

Tuesday January 7: Thirty-seven players defied the weather forecast and turned up to contest the 4bbb two scores to count format.

Winners on 88 points: Mark Warren, Tom Tagg, Heinz Czepluch, and Arnie Schultz.

Second on 87 points: Dani Tarpani, Geoff WingatePie­rce, Kevin Penrose and John Abbott.

The coveted Hamer en Sukkel was claimed by Martin Lambrechts, Cecil Arense, and Andy Manson. Best Nett for the day was John Ralph with a 68. The 2-club pool was won by Nick Oosthuizen with a birdie on the 13th.

Friday January 10: The prospect of rain still did not keep 35 players away to contest the normal format. Winners on 87 points: John Ralph, John Dell, Jimmy van Rensburg and MaureenMcG­arvie. Runners up tied on 85 points: two coveys Peter Reid, Len Bohnen, Eric Segers and Jennifer Ralph, together with Dave Curran, Mike Beaumont, Paul Parker, and Phillip van derByl.

The Hamer en Sukkel was secured with 77 points by Arnie Schultz, Eugene Erasmus, and Andy Barnes. Best Nett: Len Bohnen with a well-played 70. The two-club cash was won by Barry Brady with a birdie on the 11th.
