A QI Tell us about your occupation.

am a pre-school teacher at Bushwillow School (Kenton-onSea).

A teacher is like a potter who delicately shapes impressionable minds and molds these into vessels that define our perception and ambitions.

As a teacher you are making a difference, your work has a purpose plus it keeps you on your toes, as every day is a new day and you never get bored.

What is the most satisfying aspect of the work you do?

It’s rewarding seeing the kids grow.

I am learning with them, we have fun every day!

It is special to see the excitement a child shows when he/she grasps a concept or draws a picture.

My love bucket is filled to the brim daily!

What is the one tourist aspect you would recommend to a visitor to the Sunshine Coast?

It is important to show the diversity of experiences that make up the Sunshine Coast, but you can’t beat our beaches!

Especially the coastal features of Kenton are unique; many habitats meet here – birding, riverine and marine – resulting in a rich biodiversity.

If you have a bucket list, what is the top item you would like to do?

I have always dreamt of parachuting, but I have an incredible fear of heights, so bucket lists are overrated.

What is your motto in life?

Enjoy the small stuff, it’s the little things that count most. Live in the moment!

What keeps you motivated?

My kids! They are my whole world and everything I do, I do for them!

With the high unemployment rate in our country, what do you think could be done to address the situation?

Upliftment: give someone a fish and they will have a fish for one day.

Teach them to fish and they have a lifetime supply and in turn they can sell their produce to each other.

Do you think enough is being done to reduce our carbon footprint on the planet? If not, what do you think could be done to change it.

No! This is a hard one, but we all need to change as every little bit helps!

For instance, we can recycle and stop buying plastic.

I would also love everyone to have sidewalk gardens and grey water systems . . . the list goes on, but we can make a difference.

Next to this, industry should also change their practices and government needs to truly stand up.

What is your favourite music of all time?

My favourite song is I love rock and roll.

I enjoy lots of music and love dancing, but I am totally tone deaf …

What is the one item that can always be found in your fridge?

Milk, I cannot survive without coffee!

If you could be president of SA for one day, what would be the top three things you would do for your day in office?

I am watching a series called Madam

Secretary, and the first thing I’d like to say is that I would hate that profession.

But if I would be in this position I would work on sorting out: 1. our electricity crisis, 2. our water crisis and 3. housing – teach people how to build and maintain cob houses instead of providing free housing.
