KOWIE STRIDERS

-

Well done to all the Striders runners who competed in the Border Masters 21km race on Sunday. Jean Nepgen won the over 75 age group, Sticks Stiglingh the men’s 65 to 69 category and AvrilBeyleveld came 3rd in the ladies’ 65 to 69 age group. Marianne Stiglingh ran it in 2 hours 16 minutes, AJScheepers in 2:23 and MarietjieRobb in 2:39.

This coming weekend will see a whole lot of us doing the Buffs Marathon and half Marathon in East London. Good luck to you all.

The Herald Classic cycle was held in Port Elizabeth on Sunday. Dudley Emslie and Lyn Harbrecht both competed. Unfortunately Dudley had to pull out after a collision with a fellow cyclist but Lyn went on to finish comfortably. Lyn also competed in the Mountain Bike race in Addo last week.

On March 17 our time trial will be in aid of the Port Alfred Soup Kitchen. It is a 5km run. Please come and support it. Any donations to this good cause will be appreciated. Food will be on sale after the run.

Don’t forget the Amanzi Easter Festival. The trail run is on April 10. We need as many helpers as possible.

Jean Nepgen continues to pound the tarmac. He recently completed the Peninsula half marathon in 3:11 and the Galaxy Bingo Cordwood 15km in 2:13.

Wishing Rick Betts and Richard Legg everything of the best as they tackle the mighty Dusi canoe marathon this weekend. It is three days of tough paddling and portaging. Here’s hoping it is an incident free exciting paddle. We are looking forward to hearing the war stories next week.
