Numerous cases of break-ins, bids at burglary

On Tuesday September 1, at about 1.30am, Atlas armed response was called to attend to a report of a man having jumped over a wall into a Park Road resident's garden.

The trespasser was described as wearing a white longsleeve­d top and dark pants. Having patrolled the area, response officers reported that there was no sign of the trespasser.

A break-in at a Ferndale Road home was reported on Wednesday September 2, at 3.20am.

The burglar appeared to have taken a hammer from an unlocked vehicle and used it to smash the lounge window. The suspect got away with a 43" flat screen TV and two spades. A case of burglary was opened with the SAPS.

On Wednesday night, at about 8.20pm, an intruder entered a flatlet at a Dickinson Road home through an open door.

When spotted by the owner, the intruder fled. Nothing was taken and the SAPS were not informed.

A trespasser was reported in the yard of a home in Henry Street just after 11pm on Friday September 4.

The resident confronted the trespasser, who then fled. Security officers were unable to find the trespasser, who was reported to be short and wearing dark clothing.

At 1.30am on Saturday September 5, a trespasser was seen in a yard in Van der Riet Street. Security offers searched the area but could see no sign of the trespasser.

An attempted break-in was reported at a Park Road residence just after 3.30am. Atlas Security offers were alerted to a resident blowing a whistle.

SAPS and Sky Security officers attended to the call for help. On Sunday September 6, at 11.30am, a report was received requesting armed response after an attempted break-in at a premises in Loerie Road by a person wearing grey shorts.

Security officers could detect no sign of the perpetrato­r.

A burglary took place on Sunday at 4.40pm at Medolino Caravan Park. A kettle, gold-coloured men's jacket, ladies lightgreen jacket and pink gown were taken.

No report was made with the SAPS.

A report was received of a man shouting in the direction of the Home Affairs office in Masonic Street just after 10.30pm on Sunday. However, Atlas security officers reported back that all was quiet when they patrolled the area.

Just after midnight on Monday September 7, an alarm was raised at the premises of Cozi Homes in Wiersma Street, in the Port Alfred industrial area.

Atlas security found that the premises was locked and secure but that a fitting on a water pump at the rear of the building appeared to have been unscrewed and was lying on the ground.

On Tuesday September 8, at 8.15am, a breakin was reported at a home in Ferndale Road.

The window of a bedroom had been prised open and the burglar bars were lying on the bed.

A speaker was stolen and a case was opened with SAPS.

A panic alarm was received from a home in Tern Street just before 5pm on Tuesday. Atlas security officers found the alleged suspect at the corner of Falcon and Lambert Roads. SAPS officers were called and arrested him.

On Wednesday September 9, at about 2.30am, four suspicious looking men were reported to be walking along Main Street.

It was discovered that they were vagrants who live at the empty property adjacent to the Kowie Bowls Club.
