- JON HOUZET

Long-established in other parts of the Eastern Cape, Smhart Security is now offering its services to clients in the Port Alfred area.

Smhart Security started in Jeffreys Bay 30 years ago and has branches in Humansdorp, St Francis / Cape St Francis, Cradock, Hankey, Somerset East, Oyster Bay, Patensie, Thornhill, Loerie, Gamtoos, Kareedouw, Storms River, Tsitsikamma, Joubertina / Louterwater, Graaff-Reinet, Plettenberg Bay and, most recently, in Makhanda.

The name is an inversion of Trahms, the surname of the family that started the business, and it still prides itself on being a family concern.

In its mission statement, Smhart Security says: "We believe firmly in taking responsibility for the well-being of each community that we operate in, always going the extra mile and doing whatever it takes to serve our clients.

“Whether it requires a highspeed pursuit after poachers over the dunes of St Francis Bay or 12-hour long farm patrols in the Karoo, there is no threat that falls beyond our scope."

Smhart Security believes in smart, proactive approaches to crime prevention and business management. ”Intelligent business means lower costs and better service which creates unparalleled value for our clients. We hunt down the best candidates in each field and recruit these market leaders into the Smhart family. We believe in raising the standard when it comes to response time and technology,” the company said. We are a family. Our clients come first.

"We believe in local control rooms so that our employees can best understand and integrate into each community. We are against call centres and believe that the clients that are a part of the Smhart family deserve contact with us directly.”

Its response services include what it calls proaction officers, who gather intelligence, identifying high-risk areas and deter potential threats before they become present.

Armed reaction officers will make sure that your property and family are safe. These officers are constantly in contact with their controller so that Smhart can ensure every detail is observed and attended to.

Smhart also has a tactical control unit (TCU), an elite squad of highly skilled highlymotivated human assets that are dispatched to deal with any extraordinary situations.

In addition, Smhart are proudly farm protection specialists, whether it be routine patrols or anti-poaching responses. Their services include alarm systems, electric fences, CCTV cameras, licence plate recognition cameras and mobile GPS panic systems.
