LADIES’ RESULTS September 3

After postponing their competitio­n on Tuesday September 1 due to gale-force winds, on Thursday afternoon twenty two ladies competed in wonderful weather in a WGSA Medal and Putting Competitio­n for the Ohlsson Cup. The Silver Division was won by Angela Trollip with a nett 74 and the runner-up was Jill Lake with a nett 80. Angela also won the putting prize for this division with 29 putts.

In the Bronze Division, Yvonne Hill was the winner and she counted out Ingrid Griffiths into second place, both ladies scoring a nett 77. The putting prize in this division was won by Kim Gardner with 30 putts.

The Copper Division was won by Debra Harris with a nett 69 while the runner-up was Joy Altson with a nett 77. Joy also took the Copper putting prize with 31 putts.

The longest drive on hole no14 was won by Angela Trollip in the 0-21 division and by Sue Roll in the 22-36 division.

Nearest the pin on the 6th hole was Estelle Kloppers and on the 8th hole it was Margie Reid. Three ladies, LynetteHar­brecht, Yvonne Hill and Carol Lee, sank 2-clubs, all on hole no 8.

The winner of the Ohlsson Cup was Debra Harris with her great nett 69.

The competitio­n on September 22 will be a Viv Jordan Individual Stableford for the Settlers Cup.

PORT ALFRED MIXED RESULTS September 5

Seventeen golfers (six ladies and 11 men), playing in blustery weather, took part in the Port Alfred Mixed Competitio­n on Saturday morning. Winning the competitio­n on 85 points (80+5) were Fanie Smit, Neal Shaw and Heather van Harmelen. In second place, and scoring 83 points (78+5), were Margie Reid, Brian Reid and Kevin Maree. Taking the longest walk were Len Bohnen, Donald McGarvie and Maureen McGarvie with 71 points (66+5). Yvonne Hill was closest to the pin and sank a 2-club on the 8th hole to win a Fishaways voucher while both Kevin Maree and Neal Shaw sank 2-clubs on the 11th hole and were each rewarded with a bottle of wine.

Yvonne had a nett score of 69 but Neal Shaw had the best round of the morning with a nett 66. PAM welcomes players of all handicaps who will meet and play with different golfers and the funds collected are donated to either Hospice or the SPCA.

KGB RESULTS Tuesday September 1

An easterly pumping in the region of 50 to 60km/h duly arrived, bringing only 19 lost souls who pitched to be drawn in four 4-balls and one 3-ball to contest a Stableford Alliance 2-scores-tocount once more.

Bob Shaw, Tom Tagg, Dave Curran and George Lake posted an impressive 84 points, considerin­g the conditions, and were worthy winners.

The three ball of John Abbott, Neil Loundar and Graham Finlay (74+5) shared second place on 79 points with Paul Fryer, Peter Longhurst, Fanie Smit and Heinz Czepluch.

The Hamer en Sukkel was claimed with 71 points by John Crandon, Andy Manson, Russell Warren and John Muggeridge.

No scores of nett 70 or better were recorded.

No birdies were recorded on the par threes and the 2-club pool carries forward once more.

Friday September 4

A spring morning brought 36 players who were drawn to play in a Stableford Alliance 2-scores-tocount a la Portuguese enjoying sun and warmth.

Taking advantage of benign conditions Mark Warren, Russell Warren, John Dell and Paul Parker compiled an imposing 94 points, including bonus points, to run out worthy winners. In second place on 93 points were Tom Tagg, Shaun Uys, Ken Rogers and Paul Fryer. Bringing relief to three coveys, Fanie Smit, Roger Kidson, Martin Lambrechts and Heinz Czepluch posted 77 points for the capture of the Hamer en Sukkel. Dave Hawkins was the only player in the field to succeed with a birdie on a par three and his 2club on the 11th took the carryover pool.

Tom and John Abbott both posted nett 69s for the best rounds on the day.
