Owner Karen Booysen started the business six years ago and opened the second branch at Rosehill two years ago. “I personally think women have become more independent and aware of their uniqueness and ability to give in the marketplace, without feeling they should dominate the marketplace to feel adequate,” said Booysen.
How does technology assist you in your line of business?
I rely on technology for a few things, one being advertising on Facebook and Instagram, also WhatsApp messaging to customers. We also have Point of Sale system for daily running of the business.
What does your average day consist of in your business?
Sales, inventory, marketing, client liaison, purchasing and distribution of clothing.
Do you think the 15-year old version of you would be proud of what you have achieved?
Yes, I do.
What would you say are your strongest personality traits that assist you in running your business?
My ability to relate to women. I love to make every woman feel special and worthy just the way she is. The correct clothing can give a woman so much confidence. I always say you must wear your clothes and not your clothes you. I expect the ladies working at La Dame Mystique to treat every single customer with attentiveness and friendliness. I want every woman that buys from La Dame Mystique to feel special. Therefore my slogan is “free to be me”.
